Walk Details:  Iconic Walks of the Peak District No: 007 – Alstonefield and Dovedale

Route: Alstonefield – Coldeaton Bridge – Milldale – Doveholes – Hall Dale – Stanshope – Alstonefield

Difficulty: Moderate, underfoot conditions are rated M on the D.U.C.K.()sliding scale.

Longer Description: From the car park we’ll head down Lode Lane before diverting off along a track and then a steep descent into the Dove valley. If we make it down in one piece we’ll stroll along the Dove until we get to Mill Dale and lunch. Postprandially staggering to the Doveholes before heading out of the Dove valley via Hall Dale to Stanshope, only a hop,skip and a jump from Alstonefield.




Walks Difficulty

 

Leisurely - walks for reasonably fit people with at least a little country walking experience. May include unsurfaced rural paths. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are recommended.

Moderate - walks for people with country walking experience and a good level of fitness. May include some steep paths and open country. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are essential.

Strenuous - walks for experienced country walkers with an above average fitness level. May include hills and rough country, and may be at a brisk pace. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are essential. People in doubt about their fitness should contact the organiser or leader in advance.

Please note you should wear suitable footwear and clothing for the time of year. Take waterproofs, food and water and either additional clothing for winter walks / poor weather and sun cream and extra water for summer walks. The walk leader can refuse anyone who they do not feel is able or prepared for the walk.
