Walk Description

Somewhat of a walk of two halves! The first half is a nice little descent to the edge of Hathersage followed by a stretch along the river up to the stepping stones. After that, we'll huff and puff our way up the big climb to Abney moor (or at least I will!) before crossing a number of small dales with some fairly steep ups and downs on our way back for a well deserved drink in the pub.

Suitable footwear and clothing essential.

Walks Difficulty

Leisurely - walks for reasonably fit people with at least a little country walking experience. May include unsurfaced rural paths. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are recommended.

Moderate - walks for people with country walking experience and a good level of fitness. May include some steep paths and open country. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are essential.

Strenuous - walks for experienced country walkers with an above average fitness level. May include hills and rough country, and may be at a brisk pace. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are essential. People in doubt about their fitness should contact the organiser or leader in advance.

Please note you should wear suitable footwear and clothing for the time of year. Take waterproofs, food and water and either additional clothing for winter walks / poor weather and sun cream and extra water for summer walks. The walk leader can refuse anyone who they do not feel is able or prepared for the walk.
