Covers the moorland plateau to the east of Stanage Edge. The Eastern Moors is an uncultivated natural landscape with almost entirely open access along with a network of bridleways and footpaths. We head north along the cliff face for about a mile before turning east and heading inwards. We carry on north along the moor until we reach the B6504. From here we follow a footpath along Bar Brook southwards for a few miles before crossing over some moorland which takes us back to the car park.
Please note there are no toilet/refreshment facilities either at the car park or along the walk.
There will be a lunch break on the way round for anyone who wishes to bring food. There is the option of going to one of the pubs or cafes in Calver afterwards though it will involve a short drive.
Leisurely - walks for reasonably fit people with at least a little country walking experience. May include unsurfaced rural paths. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are recommended.
Moderate - walks for people with country walking experience and a good level of fitness. May include some steep paths and open country. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are essential.
Strenuous - walks for experienced country walkers with an above average fitness level. May include hills and rough country, and may be at a brisk pace. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are essential. People in doubt about their fitness should contact the organiser or leader in advance.
Please note you should wear suitable footwear and clothing for the time of year. Take waterproofs, food and water and either additional clothing for winter walks / poor weather and sun cream and extra water for summer walks. The walk leader can refuse anyone who they do not feel is able or prepared for the walk.
