Walk Description

This is a circular walk starting from Grindleford station, taking in Padley Gorge and the Longshaw estate. There will be some slopes and as is usual for this time of year be prepared for some mud. At the end of the walk you will have the opportunity to grab a bite to eat at Grindleford Station Cafe.


There is parking on Station Road which descends to the Station from the B6251.


Walks Difficulty

Leisurely - walks for reasonably fit people with at least a little country walking experience. May include unsurfaced rural paths. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are recommended.

Moderate - walks for people with country walking experience and a good level of fitness. May include some steep paths and open country. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are essential.

Strenuous - walks for experienced country walkers with an above average fitness level. May include hills and rough country, and may be at a brisk pace. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are essential. People in doubt about their fitness should contact the organiser or leader in advance.

Please note you should wear suitable footwear and clothing for the time of year. Take waterproofs, food and water and either additional clothing for winter walks / poor weather and sun cream and extra water for summer walks. The walk leader can refuse anyone who they do not feel is able or prepared for the walk.
